Training Ride Routes

DISCLAIMER

These are all routes I have ridden. The routes vary from low-volume local streets and farm roads to higher-speed lettered state highways to paved shoulders of expressways. Occasionally, there are short segments on arterial streets and numbered state and federal highways. The streets are paved unless otherwise noted, but road conditions may vary due to road construction or heavy rains. Traffic on the routes will also vary. I mainly ride these routes on weekends when traffic is often less. You may also encounter dogs along these routes. You need to decide if these routes are suitable for your cycling skill level. You need to have the skills and be prepared to ride under the wide variety of conditions of these routes. Whether you have been riding for many years or just starting, I suggest you take the League of American Bicyclists Road I course that is periodically offered in Springfield. If you cannot take the course, another option for beginner riders is to participate in the beginner rides offered by the Springbike Bicycle Club. Remember to:

Be VISIBLE

Be PREDICTABLE

Be ALERT
